Builder Takes Road Trip to Get Housing Moving & Stimulate His Business

One business owner believes camping could be the way to stimulate his company and put over a hundred families in wb2_6728new homes. Home builder John Wieland has more than three hundred homes in various stages of construction in four states and he is traveling to all the areas where he has homes and camping out until 101 homes go under contract! He is calling the effort the “Get Housing Moving” tour.

Wieland is driving a customized motor home, but he is sleeping in unfurnished, unsold homes in Wieland neighborhoods on the floor. The houses have heat, carpeting and running water…but little else. During the day, the veteran builder is talking to potential buyers about price reductions and lower interest rates they can use to their advantage. The builder thinks of his unique tour is something of a personal stimulus measure. Wieland Homes and

Neighborhoods is offering the deepest discounts in the company’s 39 years – from 5 – 25 percent – on every single home – at record low interest rates.

Wieland started his camping trip on March 6th, 2009 and in less than two weeks more than 39 homes are under con

tract. John Wieland Homes is currently building in 60 neighborhoods with operations in Atlanta; Charlotte and Raleigh, NC; Charleston, SC and Nashville, TN.

In its 39-year history,

the company has won more than 600 awards for excellence, including the industry’s top award, America’s Best Builder in 2005. Also named National Builder of the Year and a National Housing Quality Award winner, Wieland was ranked highest in customer satisfaction among new home builders in Atlanta and in Charlotte in both 2007 and 2008 by J.D. Power and Associates.
